Q: How much will it cost to fix my car?
A: We need to thoroughly inspect and diagnose the vehicle before providing an estimate, but once we determine that information, we’ll let you know what to expect in terms of cost.
Q: Do you charge for estimates or diagnostics?
A: We have set prices for inspections for oil leaks, noises, doors that won’t open or close, power windows and similar items. We also have set prices for diagnostics for smog failures, ‘check engine’ lights, major electrical and drivability problems, and other issues. The inspections are usually pretty short, but some diagnostics can take hours to complete.
Q: Will you credit my diagnostic or inspection fees to my final invoice?
A: We don’t usually credit diagnostics because they can take hours to complete, but we’re an honest shop, so if we find something within the first 15 minutes, we won’t charge you the full diagnostic fee. Other inspection fees can be waived, like if we do a brake inspection and you need new brakes.
Q: How long will it take to repair my car?
A: It depends on what we find and the availability of parts. As soon as we know what’s wrong with your car and what parts we need to fix it, we’ll call our parts vendors and give you an estimated time for when your vehicle will be ready.
Q: How are you protecting your employees and customers from COVID-19?
A: We used to have a snack bar and coffee bar, but we removed them for health and safety reasons. We use gloves and cleaning cloths, and before our technicians start working on a vehicle, they sanitize door handles, the steering wheel, the gear shifter and other items they might need to touch. When they’re finished with the repairs, they do the same thing and make sure the vehicle is completely sanitized before returning it.
Q: Can I drop off my vehicle before or after normal business hours?
A: Yes. We have someone who lives on the premises, so they can open the gate and help you drop off or pick up your car at any time.
Q: Can you install parts that I provide?
A: No, because there are lots of liability issues that come with using customer-supplied parts. For example, if we install a starter that you supplied and your car catches fire the next day, it would be impossible to know who’s at fault. Did we install the starter incorrectly or was the part defective? Instead, we supply the parts so we can provide solid warranties.
Q: Is your shop part of a franchise?
A: No, we’re an independently owned shop. We chose to become a NAPA Auto Care shop because it gives our customers nationwide free towing and lets them take their vehicles to any of the 13,000 NAPA centers throughout the United States for no deductible. Our customers like that because they get the benefit of working with a local, independent business while still receiving nationwide service.
