Overview
Formed in 1979, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR) is an international nonprofit that’s dedicated to promoting high standards of quality among professionals from all segments of the collision repair industry. By pursuing its mission to “deliver increasingly accessible, on-demand and relevant education, knowledge, services, and solutions for the collision repair industry,” I-CAR’s vision is that all professionals will possess “the information, knowledge and skills required to perform complete, safe, quality repairs for the ultimate benefit of the consumer.”
Educational programs
I-CAR offers a wide variety of educational and training recognition programs for collision repair professionals, from its Professional Development Program to courses in specialized areas like welding and manufacturer-specific repairs. The organization also gives collision repair businesses the opportunity to distinguish themselves by earning respective Platinum and Gold Class statuses, which are achieved and maintained through continual staff development and training.
Giving back
In addition to promoting excellence in the collision repair industry, I-CAR actively supports charitable organizations like the Collision Repair Education Foundation, which provides support for collision repair training in career and technical institutions. I-CAR has also donated curriculum to the AutoMotivation Program at Operation Comfort, a San Antonio-based nonprofit that supports wounded service members. The program uses the I-CAR curriculum as its primary source for providing auto repair training to wounded veterans looking to re-enter the workforce.
