Bianca Clark: A Mighty Opportunity
By James Florence, Diamond Certified Resource Reporter
BENICIA — With a professional background in the wine and hospitality industries, one might wonder how Bianca Clark ended up working at a pest control company. It all stemmed from a family connection. “Growing up, I had family members in the pest control industry, so I’ve always been around it,” she explains. “I worked in the hospitality and wine industries in the Napa Valley for about 15 years. In 2018, my mom started Mighty Men Services. I was getting tired of working long hours and weekends, so it piqued my interest. A couple of years later, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and I was laid off from my job. It was a perfect opportunity to see what my mom was up to in her business. I found that she had a really amazing company, but I also saw that running things was becoming a lot for her. So, since I had managerial experience, I offered to come in and help her run the business, and I’ve been here ever since.”
Today, as operations manager of Mighty Men Services, LLC, Bianca says her favorite part of her job is interacting with and educating customers. “When customers call us, they’re often pretty frantic, so it’s very rewarding to help them and put their minds at ease by assuring them we’ll take care of everything. I also enjoy educating customers on the process and particulars of how we’re going to resolve their pest issues.”
A resident of Vallejo, Bianca spends her time outside of work on a variety of pastimes. “I’m a nature bug, so I like hiking. Having worked in the Napa wine industry, I’m also a bit of a foodie and I love trying new restaurants.” Additionally, Bianca stays involved at her local church by volunteering with the youth group. “Young people are our future, so I’m very passionate about mentoring them and helping them make the right choices.”
In regard to her professional career, Bianca explains how a calm demeanor and charitable spirit go a long way toward instilling trust. “As I mentioned, a lot of people call us in a very frantic state. They’re scared or freaking out because they found rat droppings in their bed or something. In these situations, I feel like it’s really important to have a charitable spirit and just walk them through the situation. The conversations we have with customers are totally different, but the way we handle things is pretty much the same—we just try to be personable and make them feel comfortable. I’ve had a lot of people tell me, ‘When I called, I was so upset, but the calmness in your voice put me at ease.’ So, you kind of have to play that role and win the customer’s trust.”
When asked the first thing she’d do if she were to retire tomorrow, Bianca says she’d see the world. “I love to travel, so if I could just tour a bunch of different countries, that would be gold for me.” Her first destination? “Probably Europe. I would definitely go to Paris to enjoy the amazing cuisine.”
