Company Philosophy

Comparative Summary

Maintaining customer satisfaction is a crucial aspect of any business, but it’s even more important for HVAC companies that have earned the prestigious Diamond Certified award. For Moore Home Services, the key to achieving and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction is simple: approach every job with integrity and give customers the best experience they deserve. “We’ve designed our services to be completely risk-free,” says President Leland Smith. “Our reputation is very important to us, so we always keep our promises and focus on delivering the best possible experience.”

Moore Home Services has been installing, repairing, and maintaining heating and cooling systems for residential clients in Sonoma, Napa, Marin, and Sacramento Counties since 2009. In addition to its comprehensive HVAC services, the company works hard to build a legacy with its customers and opportunities for its community.

Unlike less experienced HVAC companies that take a “one size fits all” approach to installing heating and cooling systems, Moore Home Services takes the time to determine its customers’ specific needs and educate them so they can make informed buying decisions. “The average person only purchases one furnace or air conditioner in their lifetime, but we deal with them every day, so we utilize our expertise to educate our customers about the systems that are right for their situations,” says Mr. Smith. “By giving them good information, we help ensure their HVAC systems work exactly as promised and as efficiently as possible.”

Another distinguishing attribute of Moore Home Services is its comprehensive approach to quality control, which includes testing every piece of equipment after it’s installed to make sure it functions correctly and providing ongoing training for its technicians so they can stay updated on the newest equipment and installation methods. “We want to be thought of as a great company that takes care of its customers, and having good quality control is an important part of that,” says Mr. Smith. “At the end of the day, making our customers happy is what we do, and we do it very well.”

Industry Info

Take simple steps to make your heating or cooling system more efficient and environmentally-friendly.

Up to 33 percent of all energy costs in the United States come from indoor heating and cooling. Being comfortable inside is important for many people, but in order to save money and wasted energy, it’s also important to take steps to make your HVAC equipment more efficient. Consider the following tips:

Get equipment that’s the right size for your home. If an HVAC system is too small for your space, it’ll have to work overtime to keep the temperature even. Conversely, systems that are too big can cost a lot of money to operate. Have a professional HVAC contractor perform a complete load calculation to determine your specific needs and recommend a system that’s right for you.

Seal leaking ducts to prevent loss of hot or cold air. This may be the easiest thing you can do to improve your system’s efficiency. With simple duct sealing measures, you can save 15 to 20 percent on your energy consumption.

Maintain your system. Change air filters monthly, keep coils clean, ensure the outdoor condenser unit isn’t blocked or clogged, and have your HVAC contractor perform annual safety inspections and tune-ups.

Set your thermostat to maintain a comfortable temperature rather than allowing temperature swings. “Don’t wait until your home gets too hot or cold to turn on your system,” recommends Leland Smith, president of Moore Home Services. “It’s much more efficient and comfortable to set your thermostat early and let it maintain that temperature throughout the day.”

Reduce the load on your heating and cooling equipment. Turn off unneeded lights and shut down household appliances that drain electricity when they’re not being used. Avoid doing laundry or running the dishwasher at peak energy times when your air conditioning system is running. Use ceiling or box fans to move air around your home. Open windows at night to let in cool air and reduce the strain on your air conditioning unit.

Don’t shut off vents to little-used rooms. “Many people close vents in their homes and think they’re saving energy, but that actually makes things worse,” says Mr. Smith. “HVAC systems are designed for a certain amount of air flow, and blocking off registers creates too much pressure and makes them work harder, which leads to premature repairs and replacements.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to have my ductwork replaced?
A: Building analyst experts estimate that as many as 70 percent of all homes with central heating and air have poorly installed ductwork. Ducts that aren’t properly sealed or insulated fail to efficiently get warm or cool air where you want it, which costs you money. Before you invest in a new system, we can check your ducts and address any problems. We don’t recommend spending money on a new, super-efficient system unless you’re sure those efficiency gains won’t be lost by poor ductwork.

Q: How do I avoid costly HVAC repairs?
A: You can avoid costly repairs by having your HVAC system regularly inspected and maintained by one of our certified technicians.

Q: How do I select the right heating/cooling system?
A: First, make sure the unit is properly sized. We’ll provide a load calculation for your home. Next, consider any comfort issues in the home. Some products can reduce air stratification and uneven temperatures from room to room. If you have allergies, an indoor unit with a variable speed motor will allow you to continuously circulate the air in your home while filtering the air for about the same cost as operating a standard light bulb. Finally, know your budget parameters and the efficiency of the system being proposed. Does the system offer a payback? In other words, will the monthly savings over time offset the cost of the new unit or efficiency option being considered?

Q: How important is an air filter in my heating and cooling system?
A: Very important. The trapped air we breathe in our homes can be loaded with dust, pollen, plant spores and other pollutant particles. In many cases, it’s worse than the air outside.

Q: Should I be concerned about indoor air quality?
A: According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), your exposure to air pollutants can be up to 100 times higher indoors than outdoors. Air scrubbers and active filtration can help rid your home of allergens and toxins to improve your health.

Q: When should I replace my air conditioning unit?
A: You should replace your air conditioner when your energy bills start to irritate you or when you start noticing hot and cold spots within your home. Contact us and we’ll help you make the best decision for your home.

I would recommend them simply because they do what they say they are going to do. I'm a member of their monthly plan and they do follow up, their quarterly service on the AC service and their plumbing service is satisfactory.

The person that came to sell me the stuff did everything and the second time he requested to come back and found an issue, also fixing the issue without it costing a fortune.
